Cub Scout Pack 207 began 60 years ago at St. Michael’s! Both boys and girls from Kindergarten to 5^th grade may participate in the adventure that is Cub Scouts.

2019/2020 saw 75 girls and boys involved in Cub Scouting at St. Michaels! We had a large number of 5^th graders cross over to Scouts BSA Troop 200 in the Spring, so our numbers will be lower in 2020/2021. Since the 2015 program update, Cub Scouts learn the same Scout Oath and Scout Law as the older Scouts BSA and learn how to apply the principles to their lives at this early age.

Cub Scouting is a family adventure. The entire family, including siblings, is invited to participate in Pack adventures. Cub Scouts are broken out into grade-based Dens. The entire Pack meets on the first Tuesday of the month for advancements, a program and a fun activity. The individual Dens meet on the second and third Tuesdays to work on Adventures towards belt loops or pins and end of year rank advancements.

Pack 207 recruits from Killarney Elementary, Lake Silver Elementary, Monarch, Princeton Elementary, St. Charles and St. James, although we have children from other schools and some that are homeschooled. We are always welcoming to new faces and encourage anyone to come to a monthly Pack meeting to see what Cub Scouting is about. Pack 207 participates in events such as camping, fundraising, parades and volunteer opportunities, including the annual food drive Scouting for Food, the nation’s largest single day food drive. We have dedicated & trained Adult Leaders for each grade-based Den, and the Pack overall, who provide a safe and encouraging environment for Cubs to try new things, reach their full potential and follow the principles of the Scout Oath and Law. The Cub Scout Motto is “Do your best”, and that is all we ask.

The 2020/2021 year will be challenging as we deal with the ramifications of the coronavirus. Fortunately, our Chartered Organization, St. Michael’s Church, is allowing us to meet in person, as long as we follow safety protocols. The Pack has made several modifications in order to keep everyone safe. Our monthly Pack meetings, which are our largest meetings, will be a combination of virtual and drive-through, instead of in person. Our grade-based Dens will be meeting in smaller groups and outside as much as possible.

We still have an exciting year planned for 2020/2021. In October, we have our annual Cub Halloween Nights campout at Camp La-No-Chee. In November, we participate in Scouting for Food to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank. Spring brings a campout at Fort Wilderness and possibly at a Civil War reenactment.

During the summers, the Pack has a monthly get together. Cubs may also participate in several Cub Scout specific Day Camps throughout the Central Florida Council.

Pack 207’s continued success depends on the participation of dedicated parents or family members who volunteer their time and talents to help run the Pack. We expect all adults to volunteer in some capacity during the year, but don’t worry. There is something for everyone! We offer various opportunities for adult volunteers, each requiring different gifts, skills and time commitments.

Thank you to our parent volunteers for their time and commitment to the Scouting program. Finally, thank you to parents for allowing us to be involved in your children`s development. Their involvement in Cub Scouting will influence the rest of their lives, and their (and your) experiences will be priceless.
