Boy Scouts (Troop 200)

St. Michael’s Boy Scout Troop 200 began more than 50 years ago and over that period, we have helped shape and train young men to learn, grow, and become responsible citizens who live by and are committed to the Scout Oath and Law. The troop’s focus has been simple but profound: Have Fun, Learn Something, and Stay Safe.

We have a very exciting and challenging program planned for the troop in 2015-2016 and welcome your participation in all the fun!

Troop 200 is a boy-led troop, which means our Scouts plan and lead their Boy Scout experiences. We believe scouting provides a unique and transformative environment to develop leadership, character, citizenship, and promote personal fitness. We have dedicated Adult Leaders who provide a safe and encouraging environment for the Scouts to try new things, reach their full potential, and follow the principles of the Scout Oath and Law.

Camping is a large component of the Troop 200 experience, providing important opportunities for boys to apply their acquired scouting skills. Our troop camps every month during the school year. This year, we will camp at some favorite camping sites, as well as some new and exciting destinations.

During the summer of 2015, our Scouts can attend Summer Camp at Camp Woodruff in the beautiful Georgia mountains. Additionally, we offer a high adventure “Big Trip” which this year will be the Boundary Waters on the beautiful lakes in Minnesota.

Troop 200’s success in developing boys depends on the participation of dedicated parents or family members who volunteer their time and talents to help the troop function. We expect all adults to volunteer in some capacity. We offer various opportunities for adult volunteers, each requiring different gifts, skills, and time commitments. Please check the website regularly because we update the content often.

Thank you for allowing us to be involved in your son’s development. His involvement in Scouts will influence him for the rest of his life and his experiences will be priceless.

Yours in Scouting,

Paul Layton
